Monday’s Top 5

The first link this week is not so much a new post, as a new website that I’d like to direct your attention to. The creators of Writer Unboxed have just unveiled a very exciting new project called Reader Unboxed. Its purpose is:

“To offer readers an innovative and interactive online community to discuss, review and celebrate fiction and authors; and a true hand in guiding the direction of the site by contributing guest reviews, and providing suggestions of all shapes and sizes.”

It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re a lover of books.

What do these lyrics remind you of: What would you do if I sang out of tune, would you stand up and walk out on me… If your answer was the same as mine, I’m sure you’ll appreciate this beautiful post from The Simple Life of a Country Man’s Wife: Oh, The Wonder Years.

Meanwhile, The Surfing Pizza is counting down to Halloween in his own inimitable fashion: by shopping for fancy Halloween toys. In his own words, shopping is the way adults trick-or-treat.

Have you ever just had one of those days? No, not those ones. The other ones. The ones where it’s not everything else going wrong, it’s just you going wrong with the rest of the world. The days where, in the interests of everyone else’s sanity, you should really be confined to your room. This week, Stephanie from Momma Be Thy Name had one of those. To make matters worse, it was her birthday. Drop by and deliver her some birthday wishes when you read about her Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

And finally, no weekly wrap-up would be complete without a public service announcement. So before you leave, click on over to Twinisms so 5-year-old Reese and Jackson can get you up to speed on Fire Safety.

  1. Momma Be Thy Name

Awwww! Yaay!! However, you should totally Top 5 yourself for your monster story. It is AWESOME!! Matter of fact, I am going to share it on my Momma page. (I shared it on my personal page last week).

  2. Jo! I love your Monday’s Top 5! Where do you find all of these interesting sites? I’ve been trying to diversify my blog reading, hence, me finding you! 🙂 But I’m missing something in finding more…. Grateful to your Monday’s Top 5 to help!

    • Glad you enjoy it! Where do I find them? Friends of friends of friends, mostly. I aim to “discover” 2-3 new blogs every week by checking out the blogrolls of blogs I currently subscribe to, or clicking back on interesting commenters either here or on other blogs. And as soon as I find something I like, I add the blog as a new subscription in Google Reader. I LOVE Reader. There’s no way I’d be able to keep up with everyhting if I had to manually go to every blog that I subscribe to.

  3. Have I mentioned how it makes my weekend (it’s Sunday night here) when I make the Top 5? No, well it does! You’re awesomesauce!! Thank you:)

  4. Hi Jo, I also have a fascination with words. I am new to your blog, but I like the look of it already. Here’s a website on a subject that I think is right (write) up your alley. Enjoy! 😉
