I believe we have a great deal in common.
What do I believe? My beliefs are still like anti-freeze. They are not quite rigid, so what I believe wholeheartedly today, I may find out tomorrow has some flaws. Nonetheless, I don’t part with it entirely, I just morph it a little bit. My beliefs are never quite frozen. This belief makes life a little sloshy.
Here are some absolutes.
I believe that taking hard drugs like heroine will hurt your body, so I never did it. Same with smoking, large amounts of alcohol, food, sunshine or tanning beds, jumping out of planes, and playing with poisonous snakes. My husband said I was well-maintained when he met me. Not beautiful, just well maintained!
I believe in being friendly to people, and giving them more than one chance to be friendly back, but I don’t believe in torturing myself with someone who is constantly negative and doesn’t enjoy me. I don’t believe that fighting them is useful, but avoidance works well.
I believe in doing more than one thing at once, and trying lots of things, and like people who don’t like me very well, avoid the things I can’t do well, or don’t enjoy doing – like getting overly sweaty. Though I believe that getting sweaty once in a while is a good thing if you enjoy what you are doing, or accomplishing something worthwhile, and you have something to protect your eyes from the sweat.
This could take all day, so I don’t believe I’ll continue – lucky you!!! 🙂 Thanks for a great, thought-provoking post! 🙂
Thank you for sharing. I know exactly what you mean about sloshy beliefs, and I think that’s the best way to be. The people who never consider their beliefs could change are the ones more likely to have a closed mind and heart.
Keep anti-freezing. 🙂
Thanks. Great post!! 🙂

I’m more like Fox Mulder. I want to believe… 🙂
(P.S. The truth is out there.)
Hahaha. I had a huge crush on Mulder when I was a teenager. I could never understand why Scully didn’t just get with the program.
Yeah, I thought Scully was pretty attractive too. Apparently the producers thought stringing the audience along would hold viewers better than letting the two characters get some requiting for their romance.
Oh… I have a non-snarky answer now, too:
I Believe what my Eyes can See
I Believe what my Heart can Feel
I Believe what my Mind can Understand
That is an amazing answer, Stephen. It looks like something that should be on a motivational poster somewhere.
I believe that you and I were destined to be friends.
I believe you’re right.
